Participants join our program in several ways:
- Referrals by vocational counselors at the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission
- Referrals by teachers and vocational specialist in high school special education classes
- Self-referral and private pay arrangements
Participants work at Restoration Project until they are ready to apply their renewed strengths to an occupation closer to their individual goals. Though the rehabilitation process is gradual and individual, the average person works two days a week and stays 12 months. Examples of fields chosen by some are paralegal services, home health care, retail sales, construction, nursery and garden services, and peer counseling. Some have returned to school to develop their skills and interest further.
